PURIGOTCHI
LORE

-
The Puri, characterized by their curiosity and playful nature, are interstellar beings who delight in exploring planets, stars and asteroids, communicating through a vibrant language of colors, shapes and sounds. During their journey, they encountered a captivating blue and green planet teeming with life. Intrigued, they approached, only to witness a distressing sight—a massive, menacing creature resembling a whale, with sharp teeth and fiery red eyes, wreaking havoc. This monstrous entity, known as the demon whale, was consuming everything in its path.
Faced with fear and empathy for the planet's inhabitants, the Puri were determined to help but were unsure how. Their attempt to hide behind an asteroid failed as the demon whale detected them, swallowing several Puri and leaving the rest in despair. In a twist of fate, an Ecos Bombarella, manned by a group of eco-scientists and ecologists, intervened. Using a powerful experimental device, they repelled the demon whale.
The joy of repelling the demon whale was quickly replaced with dread as the device caused a one-way rift into another dimension, an unforeseen side effect. The demon whale and the remaining Puri were pulled through the rift into the other dimension. As the Puri passed through the dimensional rift, a phenomenon known now as an interdimensional mirror caused a multiplication effect. The original Puri now found themselves surrounded by ten thousand Puri. As the rift closed, what was left was an anomaly that resembled the Sea of Mist on the planet Akenat.
The scientists were deeply troubled and exhausted all their knowledge to reverse the effects of the experimental device. Finding no solution, they sought out the Puri of Never Alone. Born in the HRZ, she was much more in tune with the cosmic currents and had intimate knowledge of the Sea of Mist. Through a combined effort, they were able to create devices called Purigotchi. These devices connected with the Puri, providing a direct interface through the anomaly left by the rift. The scientists aimed to study the rift and the connection of the cosmic currents to the rift, as well as the Puri, to unravel their origin, culture, and language, with the hope of one day reversing the anomaly and returning them to the dimension in which they rightfully belonged.
Embracing their new friends and temporary home, the Puri thrived in this environment. Even in the midst of being trapped in another dimension, the Puri not only adapted seamlessly to the Purigotchi but also became teachers to the scientists and ecologists, sharing insights about the universe, friendship, and themselves. Amidst a new adventure marked by excitement, discovery, and even joy, the Puri cherished their past but never ceased dreaming of a return to their own dimension in the future.

When the Puri of Never Alone was sought out to help the scientists after the devastating effects of the experimental device that caused a dimensional rift, something remarkable happened. For the first time she was able to use her gift of connection to the cosmic currents to reach out and make contact with 217 others who had a similar gift to hers although not as powerful. Together they were able to work with the scientists and create the devices now known as purigotchi.

When the Puri set out on adventure they never expected to cross paths with the demon whale, nor to be transported through a dimensional rift resulting from a side effect of the device used by the scientists that came to their aid. Now they find themselves surrounded by a throng of Puri, despite only sixteen having passed through the rift. Each one of the ten thousand around them was unique and, while knowing that they were from another dimension, had no recollection of their own names.

When the 16 passed through the rift and encountered the interdimensional mirror phenomenon, it was thought that only the 15 puri involved had multiplied. It turns out the phenomenon also affected Tinguchi, the brave tigu cat. Unlike the 10k puri that resulted from the phenomenon, only 426 tigu cats appeared, each slightly different from the others. The scientists decided that since Tinguchi had been so helpful to them, maybe all the tigu cats on the other side of the dimensional rift would be just as helpful. Based on this thinking the first batch of Purigotchi were built to connect with these 426 tigu.
